Be Mine Part 2!

Okay, so it's been awhile since I posted the first of these two cards. Life has been very busy lately and blogging has taken a bit of a backseat. This will be short and sweet since all the supplies I used for this card are the same as it's partner.  Take a look:

I just love this card, it's very girlie!  This one and the chocolate brown card are the first Valentine's projects I've done this year.  I have another pair of cards to share another day, so come back and visit soon!

Family Love - Wallet Sized!

Do you have wallet sized portraits?  Do you always end up with more than you need?  Do you have any idea what to do with them?

Yes, that was me not long ago.  I love the wallet photos of my son but there are always so many!  I refuse to get rid of them but didn't want them wasting away in a box.  Enter the quickest and cutest way to use wallet pictures to make an adorable mini album!

I found this mini album in the clearance section of a local drugstore for $1.99.  There are four little page pockets that pivot out of the metal album.  Each pocket is slightly larger then a wallet sized picture so I backed each one with patterned paper.  I was able to fit eight pictures but since I mounted each one on paper individually, it's a bit of a tight fit.

I spruced up the cover with a brad, a button and flowers all from Doodlebug (are you surprised?).

The pages fan out nicely.

This little book is a great way to keep all those wallet pictures safe, use up some paper scraps and showcase how much I love my son!  I wish I could remember who makes this album - I would love to have a few more:)

Be Mine For Valentine's Day!

Hello again!  With Valentine's Day being just a few weeks away, I've started creating some fun cards.  I was inspired to use a wonderful collection I found from Die Cuts With A View (DCWV).  The papers are all very glittery and cute with matching embellishments.
I decided this year to make cards in pairs.  After all, doesn't Valentine's Day celebrate pairs?  Each card is slightly different, but still compliments the other.  Take a look at the first card:

I love the chocolate brown with pink!  One of the best things about this paper from DCWV is that the beautiful white scalloped edge is already part of the paper!  Too easy!

I added this embellishment however it's not from DCWV.  Truthfully, I'm not sure where I got it.

The glittered patterns are what initially drew me to the paper stack, almost all the pages have some sparkle.  The bonus is that the bundle came with three packs of stickers and it was only $10 on the clearance rack!  Sweet!

Baby Blues

For anyone who knows me well, the following statement won't come as a huge shocker, for those who don't, the following statement is not an exaggeration.

I am a Doodlebug addict.  Seriously.  It's an obsession.

Honestly I think they make the cutest, greatest and most amazing product lines ever!  Of course I adore all the great companies out there but there's just something about Doodlebug that enthrals me.  Naturally I have a scrap stash crammed full of their lines that are waiting to be used.  Yes I am one of "those" people.  I will buy DB stuff without having the faintest clue how or when I will use it......hey it's cute!

With all that in mind I opted to present myself with a little challenge one day.  Create an entire page using only DB products!  I thought it would be so simple.  Turns out it's easier said than done.  Since I have so many options, choosing the papers and embellies to use was difficult. Choosing the picture however was not.

This picture of baby E in the tub is one of (many) all time favourite photos.  How could it not be?  Get a load of those intensely blue eyes! Such a sweetie!

The pattern on the blue paper is flocked.  I love how the blues just intensify with his eye color!

I cut the title with my Cricut.

The seashell & glittery starfish brads are too cute!  I've left a little white space for journalling.  Because I love this page so much I'm holding off on writing anything because I want the words to be perfect.

The sea life paper is adorable!

I just love how this page came out!  Absolutely every bit of it is from one line or another from Doodlebug.  I think I have another candidate for a shadowbox feature!

Pieces Of Me!

Here is a fun LO without any pictures!  I was inspired by a LO done in a back issue Scrapbooks Etc magazine that showcased just how much different paper comes into the home of a scrapper and a Mom.  I can't find the issue I was inspired by so unfortunately I can't properly give credit, but I will keep searching and as soon as I find it I will update this post:)

On my page I chose to use a variety of papers that I see in my home or life almost daily.  I punched each paper with a puzzle piece punch and also used the punch for the title.  It was interesting to create an entire page out of paper, about paper!

I used Doodlebug trims to make the grid & Jillibean Soup Journaling Sprouts.

It's a great way to use up small scraps of your favourite papers!

Scrapbooking magazines, patterned papers, bills (ugh!), sports registration, note cards, anything Doodlebug, stamps, photo paper, National Geographic (a fave in our home!)

Paint chips, school newsletters, catalogues, flocked paper, cardstock & to do lists (love these!)

Isn't it fun?  I recommend trying something like this, it's amazing how much paper affects our lives outside the scrapbooking realm.  Have you ever created a page like this?  I'd love to hear about it:)

Sleeping Soundly

Welcome friends!  I hope everyone made it through and enjoyed my December Daily 2010 album, I had a lot of fun!  Before Valentine's Day kicks into high gear I wanted to share one of my LO's using a picture I just adore.

A few years ago I remember craft paper being all the rage, really it was everywhere!  When I saw this photo of baby E sleeping I knew I wanted to pair it with craft paper and cardboard.  I just love the vintage and classic feel when it's combined with a black and white photo!  This was also right around the time I got my Crop-A-Dile so I was using it a lot - so much fun!

I'm still trying to determine exactly how old E is in this one. Unfortunately, at the time I took the picture, I had my first digital camera and no mater what I did it dated every single picture as a random month in 2005.  Bizarre!!  So enjoy a throwback to the early years of my adorable son while I celebrate that my current camera dates photos just fine!

This LO warms my heart & brings back the most beautiful memories!

I used sticker words & phrases from Making Memories to frame the photo.  They're all baby themed so it fits well.

Daisies & sunflowers are my favourite flowers.  I think they add just the right punch of color.

I used 2 small pieces of cardboard to add some texture & the Tim Holtz "Dream" key.  E certainly has the key to my heart!

This photo and this page just bring me so much peace.  It makes me remember all the cute and funny things E did as a baby.  I am always challenging myself to scrap E's baby photos in different ways and using products that are outside the typical "baby" theme.  If I ever get around to picking up a 12 x 12 shadowbox frame this one will definitely go on the wall!

2010 Christmas Album - Page 24 Part 2

Did you enjoy my surprise ending yesterday?  Hee hee hee, I thought you might!  Don't worry, no more twists this really is the final photo page in my album!  Before I really get going I just want to thank everyone who has hung in with me and visited for my Christmas marathon!  I really appreciate it:)

Our second family tradition on the night before Christmas is new pyjamas!  Every year since I can remember I have opened a new pair of pj's on Christmas Eve.  I recall it being a wonderful moment for a few reasons.  First, who doesn't love opening a gift one night early? Second, I have never met a person who doesn't love a new set of sleepy pants! And third, isn't it nice to wake up and have a lovely holiday morning in spiffy new threads?  It's a tradition that I have kept up with E.  He's always very excited to see what his new pj's look like.

2010 Christmas Album - Page 24

Hooray!  I'm so glad to finally post the final page in my 2010 Christmas album!  Our family, like many others, has a couple fun traditions for Christmas Eve.  One of those is the baking of yummy cookies to set out for Santa.  E & I love baking fresh chocolate chip cookies together. Then we wait, very impatiently I might add, for them to cool enough to try a few!

Now before anyone runs out and accuses me of being a super 'Leave It To Beaver' Mom, I have to come clean about these cookies we bake. Brace yourselves....

They are not made from scratch.

I'll give everyone a moment to compose themselves.  Better?  Excellent. LOL!  I love the ready to go Pillsbury cookies - oh yes I do!  This particular year we used the place and bake type - too easy!  Anyway, here we are having oh so much fun!

Try to ignore the glare, darn flash at night!!  But I do love these photos - we're having so much fun! 

E knows that spacing the cookies is the most important job & that's why he's in charge!

We're the perfect pair in the kitchen!  (at least when it comes to cookies, LOL!)

The gumdrop paper is from MAMBI and the kitchen themed brads are from Eyelet Outlet.

2010 Christmas Album - Page 23

Welcome back!  The page I'm sharing today is simple and pretty.  Do you remember Day 8 with the beaded snowman ornament?  Well, I so enjoyed making the little guy that I went on the hunt for another beading kit.  Lucky for me, the dollar store in town had another kit!

Now I may have had a struggle with the first kit, we'll call it beginner's strife....ha ha!  This time around I knew what I was up against and the process was much more fun.  Here it is:

I kept the page simple because the paper is foil and metallic.

Of course since I was scrapping at night the lighting is all off.  Since I knew I wouldn't have time to take the photos in daylight I made due with the flash.  Can you believe the last page will be posted tomorrow? 2010 Christmas Album - Page 22

We're almost there!  Only a few pages left in the December Daily marathon of pages!  Thanks for coming back to see another page.

My page for Day 22 takes us back to E's Lego advent calendar because let's face it, that thing is cool!  As great as chocolate is every day in December, a neat new toy is just awesome and fun!  I adore watching E open each window, get excited and then take so much care in building each toy.  His little hands griping the little pieces are wonderful.  There's so much creativity in those small hands!

I had a lot of fun creating this page, mostly because of the Lego blocks. They are a hot commodity in our home so I couldn't use real ones. Take a look to see what I came up with in lieu of:

The colors are so fun!

The title is Doodlebug & I like how all the letters are uneven & odd shaped!

How can you not love small hands building with Legos?

Since I'm sure E wouldn't have been to impressed if I "borrowed" some of his real Lego I decided to make some!  A square punch, the Crop-A-Dile for the circles & foam squares.  I cut each foam square into 4 small pieces.  Neat!

Is it bad that I kind of want a Lego advent of my own next year?  LOL! Thanks again for dropping by, keep coming back as my holiday page countdown winds down!

2010 Christmas Album - Page 21

Wow, Day 21 already?!?!  We're jumping ahead as Days 19 & 20 are solely journalling.  I've decided that I will share the journalling pages with you all......at a later date.  I think I'll put them all in one post, just so I can showcase the details.

E is killing me with his cuteness on Day 21!  Just like all kids, and some adults, E has a rough time being patient in the final days leading up to Christmas morning.  There's always poking and prodding, tag flipping and random guesses.  On this particular day E was checking out a tag to see who the gift in question was destined for.

I love this page, it's so bright and cheery!

The colors may be non-traditional but they put a smile on my face:)  The title is cut at 1.5" from Plantin Schoolbook, the background paper & brads are Doodlebug (my fave!).

The colors are a little truer in this photo.  The notecard & journalling space are from the same line I just wish I could remember which one.

Blue & pink may be my new favourite holiday colors!

E may be the one peeking at tags but in all honesty I'm a big kid at heart who does the same thing!  LOL!  Difference is, there's no one hiding in the wings taking my picture!  At least I hope there's not:)  Are you a peeker, a poker, a shaker or a guesser?

2010 Christmas Album - Page 18

Hello hello!  I hope everyone is having a great January so far!  I'm pleased to share Day 18 today because I can't get enough of our tree! Seriously, I really can't!  I know there's already a day dedicated to our tree right after we finished trimming it.  This page is about our tree once all the beautifully wrapped gifts were placed underneath.  To me, it looks like it's out of a movie!

The reason I love our tree so much and could spend hours gazing at it is because each time I do, I find a different ornament that brings back fantastic memories.  It's like a bright, 3-D scrapbook without photos!

Hopefully Day 18 lights you up as much as it did me!  :)

The background paper may be very busy, but I like how it came out!

"Deck The Halls" & "Good Tidings" are Anna Griffin rub-ons (Thanks again Cricut Couple!!), MAMBI candy cane & Making Memories tag.

I matted the photo with a clipping from the same shopping bag I made a pouch out of for another LO & then matted again using the backside of the patterned paper.

Very fun!

2010 Christmas Album - Page 17

Hi again!  I hope no one is getting terribly tired of my Christmas album pages, LOL!  I'm pretty proud of myself for sticking with this project so diligently.  Usually, after a few LO's, I get tired of the same ole' theme so I move onto something else.  This time around I'm truly enjoying the process of seeing an entire mini come together!

Day 17 is all about the fun of the moment.  J & E kicked off our 2010 holidays with some roughhousing in true guy style!  I couldn't resist capturing their silly antics!  I tried to use darker colors and keep the feeling masculine.

This picture is wonderful!  I was a little unsure of the color & pattern palette until it all came together - now I love it!

The bird is from SEI Accents Winter Song and the leaves are Making Memories Vintage Findings.  The stems were bulky & I had no idea how to attach them, until I tried a flower brad!

Aren't they characters?  The token is Tim Holtz of course!

I love how vintage this Santa looks!  (from Holiday Time)

Our Christmas certainly didn't lack merriment!  Game spinner from Tim Holtz also.
